Assessing Individual and Group Behavior In this chapter, a system model is provided to guide the assessment of individual and group behaviors and their impact on organizational effective-ness. It is obvious that in a group situation individual behaviour undergoes different types of changes.Processes such as conformity and compromise, which necessarily involve changes in individual behaviour. Recognition of this universal phenomenon likely arose in step with the rise of human civilization. Elton Mayo and his associates way back in 1920 conducted the famous Hawthorne experiments and came to know that the group behaviour have major impact on productivity.
